Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2019: 10 Tips for Cyber Safety

Tech Tips from CoopSys – Episode 6: 10 Tips for Cyber Safety

In this episode of Tech Tips from CoopSys we walk through our 10 tips for cyber safety list, which offers some simple tactics to help members of the online community to better protect themselves.

People in the US spend as many as 12 hours a day in front of screens, so the hope is that these resources can help online users to become more resilient. This is applicable anywhere you use connected technology.

This is especially relevant this month because, as you may or may not know, October is actually Cybersecurity Awareness month. Every year, The National Cyber Security Alliance and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency come together every year and pull together creative resources to educate Americans on how to stay safe and secure online. We are actually authorized as “Cybersecurity Champions”, which means that we pledged to help amplify the core message of keeping the internet safe for everyone.

In this episode, Scott Spatz, President of Cooperative Systems, addresses some of the most common and dangerous misconceptions surrounding technology, especially as it relates to small and medium businesses and their employees. Then, he walks through each of our 10 Steps for Cyber Safety.

As mentioned towards the end of this episode, you can download the single-page printable poster copy of our 10 Tips for Cyber Safety here.

Cybersecurity month is just a reminder to strengthen your protections and consider all the ways you can help your employees, family members, and yourself to stay safe online and protect your data and assets.

Just as we’ve stressed in previous episodes of Tech Tips from CoopSys, the “human shield” is your first line of defense!

Give yourself some peace of mind that your business can stay ahead of cyber threats.
